The cache consists of webpages locally stored on your computer. The reason for this is to allow the browser to view them quickly, without having to download them. However, they consume large amount of disk space and are a privacy threat. Privacy Mantra will clean the cache index.dat file as well. Read about the Cache index.dat.

Manual clean instructions

1. This does *NOT* clean the index.dat files.
a. Click ‘Tools’ in the Internet Explorer menu bar.
b. Choose ‘Internet Options’.
c. In the ‘General’ tab in the ‘Temporary Internet Files’ section, click ‘ ‘Delete Files’ and select ‘Delete offline files’.
d. Click ‘Ok’.
e. Click ‘Ok’.
